+GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a well-known tool (at least for Linux users) for image editing. It aims to be a professional tool, the leading image editor under Linux distributions, competitive to commercial tools like Adobe Photoshop. Its problem is a very low number of active developers (currently probably [8](http://developer.gimp.org/README)) leading to a huge number of unresolved tasks and bugs.
